Hm102 possible problem solution

My hm102 truck has a wobble in the drive shaft causing the spur to also wobble. This appears to cause inconsistant gear mesh with the pinion gear. When the gears turn, the gear mesh is too tight in some areas and too loose in others. Ive notice some wear on the spur gear after only three runs. some people have completely stripped their gears. Could this be the cause?
